GradS' Anatomy!!

Both I and my friend Hazem talk about Sitcoms and stuff, and suddenly he come up with this idea that there should be a TV show that is all about the Graduate students. He even christened the show - GradS' Anatomy. A detailed examination on the lives of Graduate students with no obvious/intended reference to the famous TV show Grey's anatomy.

Graduate students in general hold a special place in the society and not just in school. On the one hand, the university considers them as students to suck tuition and other fees, however, on the other hand they are considered as employees to do hard labor for a bare minumum wage with a few vacation days. Whoever came up with this model did a splendid job. The payscale for an entry-level undergrad student is much higher than that for the Senior Graduate student or even Post-doctoral researcher for that matter, let alone the extra hours invested by these academians. Being a Grad student in school, however, has lots of positives. They are the frontliners in the battle field called 'Research'. They are the workhorses of the PI's (Project Investigators). They constantly unearth a lot of fundamental concepts in research & technology which was abandoned by the Industry just 'coz these concepts just don't 'spin' money! They are highly inept compared to their Industry peers but survive and produce maximum output with meagre resources.

And now, how cool will it be to have a TV show with a university setting that focuses only about Grad students? A TV show that protrays success, celebration, love, laughter, hate, anger, fear, embarrassment, pride, jealousy, melancholy, disappointment, bossy, arrogance, flirting, partying, and some PG-13 acts. There are over a million grad students out there in this world and they deserve a recognition in this form. The audience would certainly spare a commercial-interruped 30-mins to catch the life of these grads students LIVE should the corporate giants express their will to transform our ideas into actions!!!

Beginning at an End ...

Arrows sparked off to hit the target. The continuously changing 'mission' accomplished at destined point of time. The urge to stretch the elbows increases exponentially. This will never stop until the stars agree. And when they do, the Bow will rest. At that time, the silk worms find its way to the gallows.

One Last Thing...

And Democracy is only ‘Three’

‘Of’ the people

‘For’ the People

And I wonder

Whether they mean

“Off” the people

“Buy” the people

“Far” the people

 

Time ticked

Minutes become hours

Hours become Days

Any change in our lives?

 

Outcry does not stop

Killing still continues

Artillery and Guns become fat

We, Civilians, become lean

Will there be a change in surrounding

Shameless creatures

Still Talking in cubicles

Trying to find solutions,

And Let us not disturb them

For ‘Our call’ is very unimportant!

 

None of ‘Them’ endorse Peace

Else, why would they have Army?

None of ‘Them’ believe in God

Else, how would they justify killing?

‘They’ all have one thing in Common

Lust for Land!

And ‘They’ always did

And ‘They’ always Will!!

Decoding the past

What was up in the North of Sri Lanka? A brief review for the informationally-challenged people. The long-standing ethnic conflict between the majority Sinhalese and the minority Tamils has reached a point where the Tamils have lost the *utmost trust* in Sinhalese government post independence in 1948 and demanded a separate country. (If it was not for the *Once-upon-a-time-Land-Lust-British*, Tamils would have secured their separate country long time ago!) All the peaceful ‘Gandhian-style protests’ appeared so good when we read on history books; in reality, none of these protocols worked for the Tamils against the Sinhalese government. In return, the normal Tamil civilians end up losing their life, their property, and top of all freedom. (Freedom – What an insignificant word for the minority when the survival is in question mark, yet a very powerful word for the majority to give license even to kill!). Not to mention the inhumane atrocities committed against the Tamil women of all age range. Surprisingly, the so called ‘Law and Order’ turned a ‘Nelson’s eye’ to these crimes. The Tamils from the organizations and political parties either only raised voice and did nothing, or laid face down and shot on head in a cowardly fashion by the Sinhalese army.

Bottomline. LTTE rise to the occasion and retaliated injustice with injustice. Freedom of Tamils and recognition of Independent Tamil Eelam is their *ONLY* motto! No other pro-Tamil organization stood-up against the Sinhalese army like LTTE did and no other pro-Tamil organization will ever stand-up in the future like LTTE do!

There is a saying in Tamil: “Naam entha Ayutham Yenthugirom enbathai nam pagaivargal nirnayikirargal” (Our enemies decide what weapons we hold). LTTE were not given enough choice by the Sri Lanka Army but to hold Guns and bombs and Grenades and the related!

To the best of *my* knowledge, LTTE is the only army in the world that did not commit any sexual activity against women. I have come across so many reports of armies from major countries like India, USA, Germany, etc. committing utmost sexual harassment against women, but the ‘disciplined LTTE’ were *NEVER* infamous!!!

A paroxysm of writing!

In less than 45 days or so (20^th Jan 2009 to 07^th March 2009), Sri Lanka Army has killed 2683 innocent civilians in the island of Sri Lanka. Or so, a shocking UN-report says!

Sri Lanka Army shamelessly pursues the strategy of killing of innocent Tamils under the name of *flushing the LTTE rebels*.  Even more shameless is countries like India, USA, Britain, China, etc. does nothing except watching this genocide happening, and giving politically correct statements to make it to the daily headlines.

The part played by ruling government in India is abysmally stupid.  Helping Sri Lanka Army in all possible ways *under the table* to kill innocents who shares an umbilical relationship with its own citizens in Tamilnadu is no way going to take India near the *superpower* image. Ever!  The double-standard image of ruling govt. in India has been the subject of ridicule during the past few months.

Repeated mentioning of the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi pertaining to this matter only adds fuel to the flame. Top of all, Rajiv Gandhi was NOT India. He was a mere opposition party leader when he was assassinated.

A fundamental question needs to be answered at this point. Why so many innocents have to die in Sri Lanka just because one party leader was assassinated 20 years ago? How many innocent Sikhs were killed when Indira Gandhi (Prime minister) was assassinated? How many RSS followers were killed when Mahatma Gandhi (considered the Father of India) was assassinated? These are some of the questions that the ruling government does not like to be asked.

Another shameless thing being done by the ruling government is projecting to the world ‘as if the whole India is supporting the Sri Lanka army’ when this is clearly not the case?

People get bombed every day. There is no clear water. Food and safe shelter is beyond a daydream.  The news of ruthless killing of innocent civilians by artillery shells of Sri Lanka army is surprisingly inaudible to the ruling bureaucrats in India including ‘The President of India’ Ms. Pratibha Patel. I’m not even going to say anything about our Prime minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, who is a mere ‘puppet’ caught in the hands of the ruling Congress party. (Dr. Singh – I’ve immense respect for you, but I’m surprised to see what you have actually done despite what you can actually do!)

LTTE will never give up battle. As long as there is a last drop of LTTE blood, the war against injustice will not cease.

I know what will be the end.  It is your turn to find out!!!

Abysmal Stupidity

The plummeting Indian Politics knew no bounds. 

Like we do not have so many embarrassing moments enough, it is still going strong and bad. Derogatory remark is almost the mother tongue of these so called ‘politicians’. 

The latest *infamous* person added to this list is Varun Gandhi. In a public speech, he unnecessarily irked the anger of Muslims by saying: 

“If anyone raises a finger towards Hindus, then I swear on the Gita that I will cut that hand.”

“This is not a hand; it is the power of the Lotus. It will cut the head of the Muslims.”

“When my cousin who is seven-eight years old, saw Samajwadi Party's candidate's photo, she said Bhaiya (big brother), I didn't know that Osama Bin Laden is fighting from your constituency. “

As expected, Varun Gandhi is going to deny that he did not say this. That this case was politically motivated to tarnish the image of his as well as his party. And as expected, like the rest of the politicians, he will be given Leeway to exit only to say more *infamous* words, because, of course, ‘Law exists only for poor and middle-class people who cannot have monetary or political influence’.

Unfortunately, religion has become a strong weapon of hold for these politicians. You say anything in favor of one religion you get hundred claps. You say anything against another religion, you get thousand claps. In this case, for example, Varun pretends as if he is the representative for all Hindus, and also, as if he will safeguard Hindus against *anything*. 

Here is an assignment to you Mr. Varun Gandhi – ‘the Hindu saviour’. Since majority of fatal attacks on Hindus in India come from outside, there is a much better thing you can do for saving ‘Hindus’ instead of merely talking. Pack your bags. Go to the India border and let your action speak!
